REDDING, Calif.—Simpson University will host Christian comedian Michael Jr. at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the James M. Grant Student Life Center on campus.
Michael Jr.’s television appearances include The Tonight Show, The Late Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Oprah, BET’s ComicView, CNN and ComedyTV. He was also a co-star in the movie, “The War Room.” He often performs at the most prestigious comedy clubs across the nation, including The Improv, The Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store. He is a regular entertainer at colleges like Notre Dame, Harvard, the University of Alabama and Liberty University, as well as at numerous churches throughout the United States.
Michael Jr. will perform at Simpson University as part of his “Off the Cuff” comedy tour. His website states: “Known as the comedian who is more than funny, Michael Jr. brings laughter to audiences all over the world. .. With comedy as the vehicle and purpose the destination, you will laugh in such a way that will inspire you to look inside and ask, ‘What am I called to deliver?’”

Simpson University, founded in 1921, moved to Redding 30 years ago and will celebrate its centennial in 2021. In addition to offering 25 majors in its traditional undergraduate program, the university has graduated more than 4,000 North State adults from its ASPIRE degree-completion program, and nearly 3,000 from its School of Education. It has a No. 8-ranked School of Nursing, a seminary, and master’s programs in counseling psychology and organizational leadership. Simpson is launching new athletics programs in track and field, swimming and diving, women’s wrestling, and men’s volleyball, as well as a bass fishing team. The university is also working to better serve transfer students from community colleges through its commitment to Associate Degree for Transfer agreements, and it is offering new scholarships.
